not a bug just don't know how to format a cell for the current date and have it put it in a certain cell and then when I save the file it has that date in the data. I know it can be done just cannot find out how in open office. could do it in Excel

Thanks

Is the function =TODAY() that you are looking for ?

Put it in a Calc cell and it will enter the date of the system in that cell.

Yes, go Insert > Fields > Date

Or Insert > Fields > Other > Document tab > Type = Date > Select = Date [*not* Date (fixed)]> Format = (type of date you want)
