How to tab through to auto-complete in a cell

Asked by Tim

In Excel, when you start to type text in a cell that is repetitive, it autocompletes the word and you can tab over to the next row. In OO, it autocompletes the text, but won't let me tab over to the next cell unless I finish typing the word. For example, if I am typing the word "Full" multiple times in a column, I want to type the letter "F", have it complete the word "Full" for me, and tab over to the next row without actually having to type the letters "ull". OO will actually complete the word for me, but will not let me tab over to the next row unless I physically type out the whole word. How can I get it to behave like Excel in this respect?

Thanks.

Thank you, I tried Enter. It does work, but it moves the active cell down instead of across. Now that I just typed that, I realized I misspoke in my opening topic. I want the word to autocomplete and move the active cell over to the next *column*, not row. So I am moving across columns in my spreadsheet. I want to autocomplete a word in column1, then tab over to column2 after just typing a letter or two of the word. Do you know if this is possible?

Thank you for your help.

Tim,

You can use the direction Keys on your keyboard to apply the autocomplete, that way you can also go up, down, right and left to make the next cell active.

I get know that there is no reference about this function, :-) maybe cause it's a litle trivial.

Keep Asking and participating on Launchpad. ^_^
