Past text to ooo calc from ooo writer

Asked by nickinkent

Hi all, I hope some one out there can help me. I is so basic I am surprised and exasperated that it is so difficult to do.
I have text in writer.odt separated by tab. I want to past it into a calc sheet, but, with the tabs separating the text of the line into columns. As I am use to in other spreadsheets!
example:
I <tab> want <tab> this <tap> to <tab> work. <return>
to past in alac as:
Column A B C D C
              I want this to work.
Thanks, in eager anticipation. N

Just tried it with your sentence and have success.

Opened OO Writer, typed there "I want this to work." with tabs in between each word. Copied this text, opened OO Calc, pointed the mouse on the first cell A1, right-clicked there and chose "Paste Special...-->Unformatted Text". Had a distribution of the words each one in one column, e.g from A to E. If I paste it at the third column to say I have the words distributed from there on to the G column.

Try it this way and tell us if you have access please.

Hi,

copy your Text (Ctrl+c) and go to your spreadsheet,. Select a cell and paste special (!) (Ctrl + shift +v) In the following dialogue, select unformatted text.

This pastes it to seperate columns.

I hope that solved your problem.
