Ubuntu 8.04: Openoffice 3.1.1, Installation

Asked by peter

Hi

In the Writer I downloaded OO3.1.1 and installed it. But the installation didn't work.

Now I've an icon on the desktop. It's a deb.tar.gz file. I can unpack it by the Archive manager. But where do I have to extract (store) the files? Thanks.
Peter

According to the following site

https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

OpenOffice 3.1.0 is available on Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) and Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid)

OpenOffice 3.1.1 is available on Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty)
