8.04: OpenOffice 3.1, lost formats

Asked by peter

Hi

I've a Calc sheet. Some text in this calc sheet is written in bold and other text is placed as "Superscript" (Format > Character > Font Position > Superscript).

If I copy the whole Calc sheet to the writer, I'll loose the bold text and also all the Superscripts.

Do you have an idea, how I can prevent this? Thanks.
Peter

Try first saving a copy of the speadsheet in ".xls" format (and a copy of the writer document as ".doc") then try the paste again. If that doesn't work try saving both in the normal ".odt" format and retry.

Sorry i haven't tried this myself but i've a feeling that there's some sort of glitch like that going on.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

The Calc sheet is xls. And trhe Writer is doc. This is the version which does not work. Maybe .odt will help. I'm going to try it.

Thanks for the hint. Yep,I think too it's a kind of glitch.

Hi Peter

I'm using 9.04 and OOo 3.0.1 and it seems to paste OK.

It shouldn't really matter what file type your spreadsheet is loaded from, or what file type the text file is going to besaved to. Or are you saying that after the doc file is saved, it loses the formats?

Try the Paste Special options and see if any do what you want. For me an ordinary Paste creates an OLE object frame which retains the original formats.

Hi Tony

Yep, after the .doc is saved the format has gone. Thanks for your hint.

Hi Peter

If I save as doc then re-open the doc in OOo, the formatting is still there. Are you saying that for you it is lost when you re-open the doc in OOo, or are you re-opening it in Word?

Hi Tony

I saved the file in OO3.1 as .doc. And I reopened it and the format had gone.
