Don't press enter then. Use a comma separator or something instead. You can put huge swathes of text in a single cell but pressing enter will move you to the cell below.

Just go to cell and enter characters. Till to the end.

There are two ways to do this.

Instead of using just Return or Enter to start a new line, you can use Ctrl and Return. This gives you a newline in the same cell. But it is a new line.

If you want text to wrap onto a new line when you get to the end of the cell, right click the cell, choose Format cells.. then on the Alignment tab, check the 'Wrap text automatically' box. You can, of course, do this to groups, columns or rows of cells by highlighting them and going to Format > Cells..
