How to build or find an Open Office Base Front end

Asked by tenpennys

I need to know how to create or find a Menu system or button list that will allow access to an open office database for someone who is intimidated by the database itself. The entire database could be hidden behind these menus.

A screen would be presented with several buttons for:

Data Entry

Reports

Find a record

Close and Save Database

etc.

The reports button would take you to another menu that would have a list of reports that could be viewed or printed with a button that would automatically perform the task.

The Data Entry button would open a form for entering a new record and then when it is saved return you to the menu buttons.

ETC

The button list or menu could be a form itself but would have no data shown on it and after each operation or sub menu you would be returned to the main list, or menu.

This can be done in MS office but it seems to be the one thing that is either not available or very well hidden in Open Office.

Hi

This is a BIG question for a technical answers forum like this!

I think you would find so much more by going to the OpenOffice.org forums

http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/index.php

You will see that there is a sub forum of the Base forum for 'Forms', for instance.

And you will find a lot of other resources at

http://support.openoffice.org/

I hope this is helpful.

Tony
