importing delimited text with non printable characters

Asked by kostas mitropoulos

I have a csv document containing non printable characters that delimit the records. I cannot find how I enter such non printable characters in the import wizard - 'other' - e.g. new line carriage return, line feed etc. . do i use a /, <>, # or is there another method to enter these chars in?

Thanks for your question.

Two solutions come to my mind:

1) Open the csv file in gedit, copy the character and paste it to openoffices "Other" field
2) Right-click on the "Other" field, select "special characters" and search for the one used.

Can you help with this problem?
