How to disable template popup dialog

Asked by Rkimber

Whenever I open a letter template, an addressee dialog pops up asking whether it is for a single recipient or several. How do I disable this?

I'm using ubuntu 8.10 and 00 2.4.1

Sorry that no-one has given you any answer to this yet.

This dialog will pop up, if the document you are opening contains mail merge fields linked to a database.

What sort of document are you opening? Is it just plain text, or are there data fields in it?

It's a letter template. There is a date field.

Can you email the template to me? (Click on my name, then Overview, to get my email address).

Thank you for sending me the templates.

It seems that the Letter template wizard somehow includes this dialog whether or not you ask it to put mail merge field in the template you are creating.

If your template doesn't need to include mail merge fields there is nothing to stop you creating a document without the use of the Letter wizard and saving it as a '.ott' file. You can copy and paste some of the element from the templates you sent me. I will email you an example of what I mean.

On reflection, I think this is a deliberate feature of the Letter Wizard. It is put there to help you insert mail merge fields by opening up the Data Sources tool-bar. Of course, this tool-bar can be invoked at any time with F4 or by pressing the icon on the main tool-bar.

If you don't want this feature, you need to construct your own template, as I said before.

Thanks. However, it might be a better design to have the template wizard ask whether you want the facility.
