Updating OO 3

Asked by allistair

I know this will be a very basic question that probably everyone will know except me. I have just downloaded OO3 and had help getting it installed. The question is :- Are there upgrades between the different versions, for example, for the latest version 3.0. If so do they upgrade automatically or does the user have to log on somewhere and download an upgrade.I am using Ubuntu 8.10 Thanks in advance. Allistair

Hello, if you want to update you oOo, just go to menu Help - Check For updates ...

There's should be an option to install or download it ...

And you can make it to check for updates automatically ...

go to menu Tools - Options, in OpenOffice.org - online update

Good luck

I'm sorry, i'm not sure with my first answer, I do that method on windows platform at my office ...

Maybe to update automatically, you need to add some link to source.list ...

If you want regular updates, install the unofficial ubuntu packages:

https://edge.launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

Otherwise, wait for Jaunty which comes with 3.0.1 or you have to manually install updates.

If you installed it manually, you have to manage the updates, if you use
the oo ppa, then they ppa manager will take care of updates.
