Open Office templates, printing on envelopes, etc..

Asked by george_rutkay

My brother in law wants to try using Open Office at the farm and print on envelopes as he might do under Micro$oft word.

He called me this evening and we talked about it on the phone while browsing our perspective computers....among the templates installed there seems to be nothing regarding printing on envelopes of common business sizes, other common business forms.

Any help and/or advice?

Thanks

Hello, did you mean the paper size for envelope?
If yes, you can find it in Format-Page, look at paper format, scroll down in Format option, there should be envelope format like
Env. #6¾ , and the others Env Format ...

Or you can custom the size by yourself, in option Width and Height ...

Correct me if i'm wrong

Thank you

In OOo Writer, from the top menu select "Insert" and then "Envelope". Type in the Addresses to and from - you can save that as a template for reuse.

Hi George

OO is not MS Word. I guess it's difficult, to write an envelope by printer. I tried it - but without success. These are the seldom moments I'll use Windows. Maybe it works in OO, but I guess, it's tricky to find out the solution *lol.

I've tried the Insert > Envelope method and it works fine.

You need to adjust the printing positions on the envelope a little bit by trial and error. These adjustments were done due to the centre based envelope feeding position on the HP printer.

I've saved the envelope file so I only need to cut and paste the addresses one by one into the envelope address window on the page and then print.

Thanks

hello, i'm new to open office as well as relatively new to computers. i want to make a newsletter using Oo. Should I make my own template? i didn't find any newsletter templates in Oo. If I make my own, i've never made a template, so i guess i'll knock around a bit, exploring. i looked for like a tutorial & haven't found one yet.
should i return here for answers, or do you e-mail em to me? thx many times, mc
