numbers eg 10.00 autocorrect to numbered list

Asked by duncanlaw

Trying to write a timetable: eg 10.00 [tab] arrival... autocorrects to a numbered list every time I hit return. I've tried turning off autocorrect which is not an easy task in itself (why no toggle on the autocorrect menu item?) but it makes no difference. I am losing the will to live. Help me!

Hello, it's not auto correct, it's a cells format, If you want to set time format, maybe you can use time format in cells,

Go to menu format, Cells, Number Tab, there's will be Time format in Category ...

But if you just want to write 10.00, without anything will change it, you can add a ' before your number or text
For example :

'10.00

After you hit enter, it will be show as

10.00

Hope this helps

Thanks. But I wasn't using tables or a spreadsheet. I just wanted to do it quickly in prose using tabs. I solved it by using a table in the end but that can make as much work as it saves and is another labyrinth to enter.

Can one not use numbers at the begin of lines in prose without them thinking it's a list?

Hello, sorry for my wrong answer ...
Maybe it's a Numbering format ....

Try this, go to Menu Tools - AutoCorrect

Click Options Tab ....

Uncheck Apply numbering - symbol

Click OK

Try to write again ...

Thank you
