latest version of openoffice for umbuntu

Installing from the main Ubuntu repositories at the moment will give you what is equivilant to the Version 2.4.2 of OpenOffice.org

There is a version of OpenOffice.org 3.0 available from a persoanl package archive on the launchpad - although some folks, including myslef are having a few problems getting it to intstall properly. (Actually in my case it installed OK, but then had a confilct with some installed extensions picked up from the exisiting 2.4.1)

It is possible BTW to run the Canonical supplied 2.4.2 and a Vanilla version of 3.0 from OpenOffice.org at the same time - with no conflicts.

The latest release is OpenOffice.org 3.0. You can get it here:

The installation is very simpel.
