It would have been nice to give the link to the BBC page; you should not burden us to first search the web to understand what the context is. Also, BBC claims an "industry standard" without further information; so we cannot judge what would be a good substitute.

In any case, this a question is to be sent to the BBC, e.g. by using the feedback form, if they would provide a similar script for OpenOffice. It would really help if you tell BBC this demand, because an OpenOffice solution would automatically be fit for Windows, Linux and Mac OSx.

Finally, I fear that you will not get a positive answer here, because it is unlikely that someone will reverse engineer the BBC script. Linux users often use LaTeX for these purposes, which gives typeset ready quality, but is different from MS Word or OpenOffice.

If you have the general question about document templates for writers, this forum is the wrong place to ask.

Sorry for not including the link, it was an oversight on my part. I will contact the BBC as you suggest. However, it also would have been nice if you could have explained where the correct place is to ask this sort of question. I am very new to Ubuntu, am still finding it all a bit confusing and unfriendly responses don't make it any easier. Thanks for your time.

Sorry, my last sentence was not meant to shut you up; it was just to warn you should not expect answers here, and possibly more rude hints.

Provided you want to use OpenOffice (and not Tex/LaTex), have a look at http://support.openoffice.org/index.html , where you will find forums for OpenOffice.

However, the even better place would be forums for amateur and professional writers. I regret that you have to search for these yourself, because I am not interested in that topic.

Can you help with this problem?
