where to get a recruitment database for Ubuntu

Asked by Andy Taylor

I run an HR consulting firm (small) and we need a database to record candidates, clients and jobs. All off the shelf systems using SQL require Windows. Our needs are not demanding, but can't find solution and trying not to give up on Ubuntu and go to Windows.....

Hi Andy,
are you looking for a fully built off the shelf recriutment management system for ubuntu? or the tools/basic software required to build such a system?

We are looking for an off the shelf system, or tools that are very easy to
use. For example I have built a very simple recruitment database, in the
past, sing Apple Works. However, it is only useful on one machine. I
need it to be available to 3 or 4 machines. I do not have IT programming
skills and want simple idiot proof solution.

Thanks

Andy T

openoffice.org base is the thing you are looking for.
The following wiki provides you with a tutorial on how to do what you might have done with Apple Works earlier.

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/A_club_membership_database

To make sure that it can be accessed from multiple PC, you would have to create a database file that connect to a HSQL DB server running on one of the PC's as opposed to an embedded HSQL DB connection (in the section http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/A_club_membership_database#Create_the_database_file)

Hope this helps!
PS. Please don't go over to the dark side...

Can you help with this problem?
