Open Office 3.0 is still in beta, so may not be ready for the Intrepid Ibex release next month.

Note the following quote from the release candidate 2 download page:-

"The software is not recommended for production deployment at this stage. There are no guarantees. For production, use our most recent stable version."

Thanks for the replies.

I'm using OpenOffice3 quite a time and haven't got any serious problems. So I was hoping to see the official ubuntu release soon.

In the forum, calc says

"The only reason they aren't in Intrepid directly is because I haven't determined if 3.0 will be released in time to make it into Intrepid. If they keep to the Aug 25 RC1 release schedule then 3.0 should be released by Oct 6 at the latest (hopefully) which means we should be able to get it in."

This was written over a month ago. The schedule says for Oct 9th "Upload 3.0.0 final?". Note the question mark! So we just have to wait and see.
