Create the html files in a text editor such as gedit, then open them in Firefox.

This is what show up on firefox when I do the web preview from the file menu:

file:///tmp/svgda.tmp/svgfi.tmp/Homepage I have removed the homepage name for the web site. All I get is the file showing on firefox

The file is an html file, I used open office to create it.
I just tried the same thing with a web page I have up an operating.
I went to the web site, did a view page source, then a copy, then paste to a new open office writer page, then web preview from the file menu.

Got the same results, a listing of the file in html format.
So I guess there is not a way to view the pages off line, so I guess I will just have to upload it and see what happens.

OOo can function as a web page creator/editor, but everyone will admit that it is not as good as dedicated web page editors.

When you choose "Preview in Web Browser" all it is doing is showing you what the document will look like if you save it as html. You will get the same effect if you create a document, save as html and then open the html file with your web browser.

If you download a web page source, edit in OOo and save it, you still have to upload it back to the web site.

OpenOffice is a wordprocessor and usually isn't a good way to export document on the Web using word processor tools such as OpenOffice, Word ...

So keeping your original question, to get better render result from a OpenOffice document to be put on the web i think is export it as pdf.

To view a OpenOffice document as html: you first need to save it as html, choose it from OpenOffice menu
File -> Save as ... menu

then simply select the OpenOffice menu item:

File->"Preview in Web Browser"

then doc, saved as html, will be opened with Firefox.

Hope this helps

I'm quite confused...
To view html page you simply need ( but you already have a browser: Firefox )... save the page as html then open with your Firefox browser.
Launch Firefox and from firefox menu choose File->Open File ... and choose the previous OpenOffice (saved as html page)....

Hope this helps

I am having the same problem as Fred. How do I check my index.html file locally in my Firebox browser before posting the HTML file on a server?
