Thesaurus option not working

I typed a word in writer and pressed CTRL F7 to get thesaurus. But it did not work. I tried option from tools menu, but the option is not activated. How to turn on this option in Writer.

Later versions of OpenOffice.org are modular and as such the thesaurus is contained in a package.

For example for the English thesaurus the package is openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-gb
(although this actually results in openoffice.org-thesaurus-en-us being installed :( :( :(

Have a look in Synaptic package manager for your most appropriate thesaurus package. You will probably need to restart openoffice writer for the change to take effect once it is installed.
