This is the answer I gave to someone who asked about printing booklets in Open Office. If it does not do what you want, please describe what you want to do more fully.

Yes you can do this. I suggest you look at the help for 'booklet printing' which, rather confusingly, gives you a help page entitled 'Brochure Printing', but don't worry about that.

The important thing is that your document is 'portrait' and A4.

Setting your printer to landscape, then selecting 'Brochure' in the 'Printer Options' handles the scaling down to A5, then prints two-up on A4 and ordered correctly for folding into a booklet.

If your printer is like mine and offers a booklet option, don't enable it. OOo does it all for you.
