openoffice java recognition on ubuntu fails in cause of missing file in the ooo-core package for powerpc

Asked by Benjamin Dahl

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-core

I found out, that for proper use of Openoffice.org on Ubuntu for PowerPC some really neccessary files in certain packages are missing.

One of these is the file sunjavaplugin.so in the package »openoffice.org-core« which should be installed in »/usr/lib/openoffice/program« but isn't.

Starting Openoffice from the command line and trying to chose a JRE from the options menu, i get following Error-Message:

~$ [Java framework] The file: vnd.sun.star.expand:$URE_INTERNAL_LIB_DIR/sunjavaplugin.so does not exist."

So Openoffice is not able to find the installed JREs. Another bug in Openoffice itself didn't allow me to add a JRE manually.

Trying to solve this problem, I took the file »sunjavaplugin.so« from the »openoffice.org-core«-package of the debian lenny distribution for ppc and it worked. My Openoffice now finds my installed Java-Runtimes automaticly.
