Suggestion for Calc Find() function help

Asked by Steve Shervais

Don't know if this is the correct path to make a suggestion, but I haven't found another. I just spent an hour fighting with OO.Calc's FIND() function. It would fail with a #VALUE! error if the string I was looking for wasn't in the searched string. After a while, and in a different forum, I found that one could test with the ISANUMBER() function. Obvious, when pointed out.

My recommendation is that a reference to the behavior be made in the FIND() wizard, and in the Help section on both FIND and SEARCH. As an aside, I'd also recommend that examples in the help for FIND be redone using text. I got terribly confused when all the references to string searches used numbers as their examples.

Thanks

thanks for your feedback. this is not the perfect place, though. you should either open a bug report about it to have it fixed in ubuntu or (better) report it directly to open office.

Can you help with this problem?
