Ubuntu crashed. How to recover the data?

Ubuntu crashed. When i try to start it, it keeps on beeping.
How do i recover the data on the hard-disk?

Hi,

Standard Ubunto Installer CDROM/DVD is also a live CD : you can decide to run Unbuntu without installing on your hard-drive. It will run entirely from CD/DVD Drive and your RAM.

So you will be able to access your Hard Drivers from a graphical desktop (and even diagnose what your problem is), or reinstall.
