openoffice crashed when open a document from recently used

When I try to open a document from the recently used directory, openoffice crashes. When I do not have another document open, the untitled document which is empty is recovered the next time I start openoffice. I decided to use openoffice because I thought that the system is more stable than Word. What do I do wrong?

You could try the following (in a terminal):
mv ~/.openoffice.org2 ~/.openoffice.org2.bak

This removes *ALL* your settings and possible quircks wich still might be in the history-files of OpenOffice.org.
