Quotation mark uniformity.

Asked by Donna Simonds

As in all writing the text must match, that includes quotations, and I'm unable to give you an example in this description.
This " in OOWriter shows up fine in Times New Roman but . . .
this ' shows up just as you see it here.

How can I change this single ' to match with the desired font without having to go to the SYMBOLS and insert this character each time it's needed?

One step closer to success.

I think I understand what you are trying to do.

You want to replace U+0027 http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/0027/index.htm

with

U+2018 http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2018/index.htm

and

U+2019 http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2019/index.htm

This can be done in the following manner in OO.o go to "Tools > AutoCorrect..." click on the "Custom Quotes" tab, click the "Replace" check box for "Single quotes" and select your start and end quotes by clicking on the current default and selecting the desired character.

I am having difficulty with inputting the single and double quote characters that I want.

I have gone to auto correct/custom quotation and chosen the character i want but my choice does not get selected in the document.

I think there is a keyboard issue on my laptop because i have to press the quote button twice before i get the existing quotation character to be outputted on the page.

Can I get some help on this?

Thanks, Mathew

I am in the process of relocating to New Mexico, where I will unpack my
Linux box and try this theory out among different key boards. For the
mean time, I am working on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, and suspect this
is the conflicting machine.
