can OO make movies similar to Windows movie maker

Asked by Karlene

I'd like to create movie-like presentations with images that move and text that appears and disappears to phrases of music added to the presentations as like is possible when using Windows Movie Maker, but using Open Office or another linux program.

OO doesn't provide this functionality included in Windows Movie Maker. But sure exists many alternatives in linux, you should test some and use the one that fits your needs best.

Here are some nice ones that work for me:
 * Kino
 * Cinelerra

Kino is nothing close to being as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker. Why can't someone just make a program that makes it EASY for someone to migrate from Microshaft! I mean, Ubuntu is supposed to be the alternative, right! I had problems with video in Kino right from the start. Why not make an extension on Kino, or a "SIMPLE" program like IVC (internet Video Converter) That will convert any video to one compatible for Kino?

Cinerella is a joke! I am a PC tech and I cant use it. If Ubuntu wants to get more regular users to switch, then Ubuntu MUST get it together and make programs that work and are easy to use. This one issue is keeping 10's of thousands from switching completely to Ubuntu 8.10. Having to enter code to get something to work or process a command is called DOS. We have come a long way since then...it's called Widows!

Make Kino work with video cams that DON"T record in .avi or .mov. I have a new Cannon camcorder that uses SD memory only, and records in MPEG2 format. Kino will not use it!
