Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Openoffice Calc... Can you save a calc spreadsheet to dbf without get any error...?

Asked by marcobra (Marco Braida)

For Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy users using Openoffice-core 1:2.4.0rc2-1ubuntu3, Tue Mar 4

Can you make this test...

1) - create a new spreadsheet
2) - put some row of data in it for example one row with 3 cells with values 10 10 10
3) - Save as dbf

I always get error when i try to save a Calc spreadsheet as dbf.

[ error saving document test:
connection to the file could not be established ]

4) - Please open the just saved .dbf file with Openoffice calc, it's contents don't match the original data.
Below the saved dbf contents
N1,N,5,2 N2,N,5,2 N3,N,5,2

Please give me some feed back.

Thank you

Hi,

Just tried your test in Hardy with OpenOffice.org 2.4 and got the same error. However, I also tried the same test after I regressed to 2.3.1 and it worked fine.

Also did a bit of checking on the Web, and it seems to be a possible known issue in OpenOffice.org. Please see "http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=400608" (although it refers to Debian, it's probably of relevance given Ubuntu's base)

Regards,

Stuart

I also cannot _load_ a dBase file into the Linux version 2.4. Earlier versions worked. The Windows version 2.4 still works fine.

Does this need a second bug report?

Running Ubuntu 8.04.

I discovered that if OpenOffice.org-Base is installed then the Calc DBF load and save works.
