How to fix a driver

Asked by mylaunchpad

I copy a jpeg file to a open office word file and it looks great on the screen and in the print preview. But the print,...no good!
Distorted. Loss in hight and longer. Round becomes oval and way out to the left. I have a similar problem with printing envelopes. Looking good in preview, but not in print. Is it possibly the driver?? or????
Canon Pixma iP3500
Help is deeply appreciated. That would mean I could abandon MS Word.
Thanks Joeph

Hello,

Check paper size, margins and print ratio before printing.
As for the image, do you copy+paste it or do you insert the image from a file?
You can always change the size of the image in OOo.

Cheers,

How would I know about the image size if it looks great on the screen, or print preview? and yes, it's either copy paste or drag and drop. The file is great for MS Word.
Thanks

The problem occurs only when printing from the OOo Writer?
Try to print the image from another application.

Sorry, but what is a OOo writer. If I print over the original driver/MS XP I have no problems. This is actually the case with all my graphic involved papers. When I open them in Open Office they are all over the place. Even regular text is taking up more space then in MS Word. Thanks for your patience

OK, I know what OOo/open office is. Though that doesn't change anything unfortunately. I have to go for almost all my pre-prepaired files to Word because they involve graphics like letterhead, and when I open them with OOo they are jsut distorted and I don't know how to fix them because they look great ion the screen.

Ok, that must be a formatting problem. Thought OOo is able to open documents created in MS Word sometimes you lose the original format of the document (eg. some fonts, tables or graphics are not displayed/printed correctly).

I really don't think it's a problem with the printer. Try to make a document in OOo from scratch and add some graphics and text and save it as .odt. After that, close and open the document again and print it. If it prints OK then the problem is in the format of your MS Word documents.

ok, but how does that help with the envelope printing. Those are designed on OOo, but in print they get off the paper.

As for the envelope printing, be sure to specify the correct size of the envelope, left/right margins and set print ratio to 100%.
