OO's Sun Report Builder extension not running

Asked by asanchez

While several extensions are currently working, the Sun Report Builder extension won't run at all in my system. It shows up in the Database Application, but does not run when clicked.

My Setup:

Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 up-to-date
OpenOffice.org 2.3.0
Sun Report Builder 1.0.1
Sun Java 5.0 Runtime

Everything was installed through the Add/Remove interface.

Extensions are installed as user extensions, not shared ones although I already installed them as such with same results.

Thanks for your help.

Where did you get the extension from? The report-builder extension is packaged for gutsy version of openoffice.org, to be found in universe repository. This one should work.

Concerning the extension-installation for all users:

If you have an extension to be installed as a system-wide one, you'll need to do it as root.

I got the extension from OpenOffice's site, that is from Sun. I've been looking for a gutsy-packaged version but couldn't find one. Could you provide the name for that package?

Thank you!

The package is called: openoffice.org-report-builder. As I said, make sure you have enabled universe repository in your sources.list, otherwise the package will not show up in synaptic.
