I have Open Office but cannotfind out how to get it to read the latest Microsoft Files eg .docx and I assume similar new formats for spreadsheets databass and power point.

Asked by Don2A

I assume that my Open Office software is either out of date or requires some form of Plug In. It will display the contents of Microsoft Files Formats up to about Microsoft Office 2000 but will not display the contents of the more recent M.S. 2003 and M.S. 2010 files that have file extensions such as .docx Please can you advise me what I have to do as I am sure that Open Office will have been made compatible with the new file extensions that Microsoft introduced some while ago now.

Thanks,

Don2A

What version of Ubuntu are you using? It's likely to be an old one as all recent versions of Ubuntu use versions of LibreOffice and they open docx files.
