visualization of taskbars in openoffice writter

Asked by elintripido

Hi there, is there a way to visualize ubuntu taskbars (with other program icons, switch off button, etc) while using openoffice writer? To me it's quite annoying the default configuration in which only writer menus are shown....

That's not the normal behaviour. On my desktop when I maximise openoffice it occupies the screen in between the top and bottom toolbars.

Have a look under the view menu and make sure it's not in "full screen" mode?

Definitely it's not in the full screen mode. In such mode I can't even see the writer menus, but I do, I just don't see the Ubuntu menus... I'm thinking in uninstalling and reinstaling writer...

Thanks anyway

Can you take a screenshot to show us?

I doubt reinstalling openoffice will change anything

Yes, check it here. You were right, I reinstalled it and things are the same. Notice that there are not close/minimization icons on the top right corner.

I'm new in Ubuntu and perhaps is something really obvious, but it's really annoying if you can't fix it...

Thanks! D.

Hi,
Do you have the same behavior with other applications (such as firefox for example)? If yes, i think metacity has stopped running. Can you try to run:
$ metacity
in the terminal?
Please let us know if you still have problems....

Can you help with this problem?
