move data from one spreadsheet to another

Asked by linnube

Using Ubuntu 7.10 and OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet.

Have created -12- separate .ods files. What I want to do is create another file (Target file) which will
show the value of certain cells ( derived by the MIN function ) on the source files.

I've tried using the "link to external data" step as well as the "navigator" step but all
I get is the function formula of the source file placed in the target file cell where I want
the information.

Is what I want to do even possible. ???

thanks
ray

I don't know if this will help you but I'll try anyway. It can be done because when I took the course in excel, the teacher explained this. However, in Open Office, which is similar, you copy your selected cell range to the pasteboard, select your Target file and paste them in. You can find this in Help, Index, type in paste and choose cell ranges or and it explains how to copy and paste them to a new sheet. Which means you would have to copy what you want on sheet 1, paste to Target file and do the same for the other 11 sheets.
The external link is if you wanted to export your sheets to open office word processor, which is not what you want to do.

Well, I took a different tack and copied and pasted the data from the other files
onto the end of the first file. Then used the needed functions to extract the
info to another sheet at the very end of the file.

Thanks for the reply..ray
