Asked by Ricci

Is it possible to get accents in Open Office with short cut keys to alternative keyboards, as in Word. (scuse me for swearing)

There are many ways to do this. If you have an us keyboard, you can change it to us-intl and use "power" typing, ie. to have é type a ' followed by e, to have â use ^ followed by a, to have ũ use ~ followed by u etc. etc. (the only drawback to this is that to type for instance ` you have to type ` followed by space). This will work in all applications, not just OOo (as you can see from this answer).
