where to save new fonts so they appear in openoffice?

none of the instructions in the other answers make the new fonts appear in openoffice.
i wondered if i have to save them in a certain place for it to work?
thanks for any help!

Hi

Fonts are a system wide issue - not just an OpenOffice.org issue, so there is no 'place for openoffice' as such.

Generally, all you need to do is the double click the font file in the File Browser and the font installer should be called to install them. You may then have to re-boot to see them in all applications that use them.

Can you try that out and report back if you are still having difficulties.
