how to use arial font in OpenOffice

Asked by achevrier

Using OpenOffice, I would like to use traditionnal and basic "arial" or "time new roman" microsoft fonts, in order to make easier my collaboration with microsoft users.

Unfortunatly, I don't find such type of caracters in font menu.

Is there any solution to "mount" arial or time new roman fonts in OpenOffice choices ?

You need to enable the "multiverse" repository in Synaptic and then install the msttcorefonts package. That has all the Arial (and variants) and Times New Roman fonts.

Go to the Software Centre and search for 'ttf-ms'. You may have to enable the multiverse repository.

If you cannot find it, may I suggest you ask again in a new question (hi-jacking an old question is not a good idea) and include reference to Oneiric in the title, or report a bug.

BTW, this is *not* an Openoffice.org (or LibreOffice) problem. Fonts are installed at the operating system level.

Hi Tony,

Two thanks: first is that the multiverse repository and ttf-ms worked; second is the enlightenment about old questions and fonts being at OS level.
