@actionparsnip Please tell me how to access my backups! I am a Ubuntu novice -- I love the system but need help especially on programming side. I lost several changes to a book proposal so I am trying to get to an earlier version with all the work and corrections I did yesterday.
THANK YOU

If the data is important to you, you will have been taking regular backups to a USB device etc, or remote PC / cloud storage like dropbox or ubuntuone.

If you have no backup then the file change is stuck.

I don't know whether this will fly in Ubuntu -- it does for Macs, but IF you already set OpenOffice to always create backups (via Prefs menu), you MIGHT have a copy of your lost file deep the OOo program folder. Use a search program to find the file with the same or part of the name and if it pops up you might be able to retrieve it. Worth a shot!
