Libreoffice has impress which should be able to show the slideshow, As long as the file is not read only you will be able to add to it, even if it is read only you can save your changes to a new file.

Two variants or the file is invalid or what is more incredible but too real.

If you have troubles with adding, reading, viewing ms project file you would use tool below
