Trying to turn on the "autofit" function for tables?

I'm trying to fill a page with a grid of 14 columns by 19 rows. I'm having trouble filling the page with the rows. I get 19ea. x .5 inch rows. I tried dragging the bottom one and then compressing it with the next to no avail. I thought "autofit" would do the trick, but none of the functions work. I am not looking forward to drawing lines with a ruler and working longhand. Any help will be appreciated.
