upgradation of open office 3.1 to higher versions

I am using ubuntu 9.10 (higher versions are not compatible in my machine). How can i upgrade open office 3.1 to higher versions ?

What is the problem with the higher version? Ubuntu 9.10 is no longer supported!!

It's better to use Ubuntu 8.04 if other system doesn't works!!

Hardy deskto support is also EOL, Hardy is only supported on the server now. I suggest you install Natty or wait a little while and install Oneiric (You can even install it no but it is in Beta)
