how do i paste a copy of my resume to a job application ?

I am just trying to paste a copy of my resume to an application for employment and don't know how

Open the document you want to cut from. Mark the text you want to copy. Press <ctrl>c to copy (or use the edit menu if the application has one)

Leave the document open, do NOT close it (this is an idiosyncrasy of GNU/Linux - the "clipboard" disappears when you close the original application)

Open the document you want to paste to. Place the cursor where you want to paste. Press <ctrl>v to paste (or use the edit menu again)

Done. :-)

If the applications you are cutting and pasting from or to are text mode apps (eg Xterm or nano etc) then the correct keypress is <ctrl><shift>c or <ctrl><shift>v however this is _only_ text mode only apps. ...or use the edit menu as before.
