spreadsheet : data of page 2 goes to same cell of page 1

Asked by gv casper

I have 2 spreadsheet files started in january 2007. I use Ubuntu, now updated to U 7.10 and OO 2.3. I have to use CTRL+SHIFT+ PAGEUP(DOWN) to alternate the pages of the sheets, but this is small problem. Big problem is that when I write data (number or word) say in cell for instance D10 of page 2, the same data appears in corresponding cell D0 of page 1, even deleting previous data that was in this cell. If I write data in cell B7 of page 3, same data goes to cell B7 of page 2 and of page1, deleting previous date on that cells. So I have to be very careful in writing in page 2 (I did not use page 3 up to now) in order to preserve data of page 1. What can I do to solve the problem ?

Hi,
This happens when both sheets are selected. To select the sheets: hold down shift, and click on sheettabs. (in lower-left-corner of the calc window, saying something like "sheet1" "sheet2" and "sheet3". To unselect: just click on sheettab. (without holding down shift-key)

succes

It seems like you are experiencing a synchronization issue between the sheets in your spreadsheet files. This could be due to some unintentional formula or link that is causing the data to be duplicated across different pages. To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

Check for any formulas or links: Look for formulas or links that may be causing the data to be duplicated. Check both the cells where the data is being entered and the cells where it is being duplicated.

Remove any unwanted formulas or links: If you find any formulas or links that are causing the issue, remove or modify them as needed.

Verify data entry: Double-check your data entry to ensure that you are not accidentally entering the same data on multiple pages. Be careful when using copy and paste functions to avoid unintentional duplication.

Use cell references: Instead of entering data directly into cells, consider using cell references to link the data between pages. This way, changes in one cell will not affect other cells unless they are intentionally linked.

Save and test: After making any changes, save your spreadsheet files and test to see if the issue has been resolved.

By following these steps, you should be able to prevent the duplication of data across different pages in your spreadsheet files. If the problem persists, consider seeking assistance from an expert in using OpenOffice or spreadsheet software to further troubleshoot the issue. The issue you're facing with data being overwritten in different sheets of your OpenOffice spreadsheet might be due to a synchronization problem. This issue can occur when you have multiple sheets within a single spreadsheet file, and they are unintentionally linked. Here's a possible solution:

Open your spreadsheet file in OpenOffice Calc.

Click on the sheet tab at the bottom corresponding to the sheet where you want to work (e.g., "Sheet 2").

Check if there are any cell references or formulas in the cells where you are entering data. The issue may arise if there are cross-sheet references or formulas that are inadvertently affecting other sheets. Remove any such references if you didn't intend to link the sheets.

Save your file and see if the issue persists.

If the problem continues, you can also try copying the data from one sheet and pasting it into a new, separate spreadsheet to isolate the sheets and prevent them from affecting each other. https://www.wjsmithconstruction.com/

Can you help with this problem?
