split screen of 2 worksheets so can scroll and look at both sheets at same time

Asked by william

Hi
I have 2 separate spreadsheet with the same format where i need to be able to split the screen so i can view both sheets then have the ability to scroll down the sheets at the same time basically comparing one or 2 columns on both sheets most of the data on the 2 sheets will be the same or i just need to compare 2 of the columns on each of the sheets.
Excel would open 1 x excel window then have both worksheets minimized / maximised within where as at the moment the 2 spreadsheets are opening in 2 separate calc environments ....
hope this makes sense any help would be great and appreciated

There's no way to do this, but you can copy one sheet into another and use the split screen method as described here:

http://www.codejacked.com/split-views-for-documentsspreadsheets/

(Previews shown there are for Microsoft Office but work on any other Office suite too, including OpenOffice)

Or more logically, you can use a comparator function between sheets/files to create a Match/Mismatch column. There's several formula for this purpose.
