Incorrect keyboard characters

Asked by Brian

Hello. I have an Acer laptop running 10.04 LTS. Happy as a clam until midday on the 26th. Now a number of the keys give me incorrect characters on the screen. It is driving me nuts.

I have not added or removed any hardware or software for awhile. To deduce a hardware problem or not I rebooted and selected Windows, all was fine.

Back to Linux.....I checked the keyboard settings and they are correct. I had to use my wifes notebook just to pose this question.

With any possible solutions please keep in mind I'm a Linux neophyte.

Thanks, Bj

Make sure you didn't set num lock on. It sometimes is hit by mistake and then some unexplained characters appear.

That's my guess.
