How to insert section break?

I am clarifying the question below.

Different chapters in a book have different running headers and page numbers requiring separate sections. Pleas advise how to insert a section break before (not after) each chapter?

Insert break. choose section. A page break automatically puts in section
break, too (I think) .

Make all your chapter titles Heading 1.
