Writer picture toolbar dropdowns

Open Office 3.2 on Ubuntu 10.04

When I insert a jpg picture into Open Office Writer V. 3.2 and select it, the picture (or graphics) Toolbar comes up with selections for contrast, brightness etc. Each tool has a dropdown menu arrow to its right, but when I click one of these, no dropdown menu appears. So I cannot change anything with these tools.

I stumbled upon the solution with more experimentation. The toolbars exhibit this behavior when they are docked (right click/dock toolbar). If you drag the toolbar out of its docked position and over the document, it becomes fully functional. Sorry for the premature post.
