Can't see bottom of "Export to pdf" pop-up box

Asked by Frank Parkinson

In OpenOffice (OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 OOO320m19 (Build:9505) ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1) I am trying to export a file to pdf.

The pop-up box showing the options of the export is not re-sizeable, and I cannot see the bottom of the box where the "enter" and "cancel" options are shown, so I can't complete the export!

This occurs on both a laptop and a netbook screen. I am using the theme "glossy" in Ubuntu 10.10

The pop-up screen needs to be resizeable!

Further information:-

Under System>>Preferences>>Appearance the Application Font was set to size 11 (for clarity).

I re-set the Size to 10, and the full pop-up box now appears.

This is suitable as a workaround, but does not really solve the problem - all these types of pop-up boxes need to be re-sizeable!

You can hold ALT and drag the window from ANY point so you can see the button

I have tried holding ALT and dragging - this has no effect! The window does not move.

Can you give a screenshot to outline the issue. You can use imageshack / photobucket / dropbox etc to host the image.

I have a netbook and i don't experience that problem. you might want to use the export to pdf button on the toolbar instead of file>export as pdf. the popup is smaller there.

"actionparsnip" - no, I don't want to set up an account with an image host just to do this, and I can't paste the screenshot in this response!!

"marcus aurelius" - good suggestion; I hadn't ever used the toolbar route, and after your post I can see that this works fine. Thanks

Sorry - I hit the "solved" button, but this is a workaround, not a solution to the problem.

Imageshack is accountless, you can host what you want without having to sign up to anything. Please mark as solved if all is well or provide more details so we can advise further.

Thanks

If you selectprint, is there not a pdf printer?

Try losing the exclamation points in your replies, you'll come across smarter and people will want to help you. Giving attitude as you did just makes people ignore you. A sound advice for life in general.

If I select "print" - there is no "pdf printer" showing; I don't understand the question.

Exclamation marks, like quotation marks, are perfectly normal in English writing; they do not indicate any attitude, except, perhaps, surprise. Equally, the use of punctuation marks is not a sensible way to try to ascertain "smartness".

When reporting problems with computer software, I don't expect, and I certainly don't appreciate, "life style" advice! (Exclamation mark intended).

As the advice of "marcus aurelius" provided a good workaround, all information I have supplied since then has been in an attempt to give further information to allow workers on the software to resolve a problem. I cannot say "Problem Solved", but I have no need to pursue it further.
