Microsoft DOS. Microsoft Excel.

Are you actually using Linux and what is wrong with a Linux format?

Hi Rose

Try this:-

In the file browser, right click on the file. If it says 'Open with OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet', choose that. If not, choose 'Open With'. If 'OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet' is in the list, choose that, otherwise, choose 'Other Application...' and find 'OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet' in the list of applications and click Open.

You will then either get a message saying OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet cannot understand the file, or a Text Import dialogue.

if you get the Text Import dialogue you may have to experiment with the options to get the data to show in columns in the Fields part of the dialogue. You can also manually select the Column Type for each column. Then click Open.

The file is now opened in the OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet application. You may need to do some editing to get it how you want it.

When it looks right, in the File menu choose Save As, and use the drop down list of file types to select a MS Excel file type before you Save. 'Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls)' is probably the best.

Hope that helps

Tony
