Can you give the output of:

lsb_release -a; dpkg -l | grp openoffi

Thanks

actionparsnip probably meant this command (since that one has a typo):

lsb_release -a; dpkg -l | grep openoffi

Please open a terminal: ctrl+alt+t
Type (or copy and paste) the line in terminal window:
lsb_release -a; dpkg -l | grep openoffi

Reference.

In OpenOffice go to
tools -> options -> java
verify there is a java environment and activated.

Hi

In my OpenOffice.org version 3.2.1 there are two options to save as xml. One is DocBook (.xml) and the other is Microsoft Word 2003 XML (.xml). There is also Microsoft Word 2007 XML (.docx) which is not simple xml like the other two. All these work for me.

Which xml option are you using and what happens when you Save using it? What error message (if any) do you get?

What my colleagues are trying to find out is the version of Ubuntu you are using and the version of OpenOffice.org. Can you tell us these? You can find the version of Ubuntu you are using with System > About Ubuntu and the version of OpenOffice.org by using Help > About when you have a document open.

Tony

Hi

One reason for this could be that you are missing a package called

openoffice.org-java-common

To install this, go Applications > Ubuntu Software Centre, then enter openoffice.org-java-common in the search box at the top right, and hit Return to search.

It should give you Office Productivity Suite -- Arch Independent Java Support files. If this has a green tick on it, then it is already installed and we need to look further at this, but if it is not already installed, just click on Install and give you password when asked.

Hope that helps.

If this works, then please mark this question as Solved.

Tony
