unable to print black(only)from open office

In open office when printing a doc. I am unable to print(black Only) despite selecting Print > Options and checking(print black)under Contents......printer stills continue to print color.Any suggestions?

Hi

What are you printing that is in colour? Graphics (pictures and drawing objects, for instance) will still print in colour. Print Black only refers to text (see Help).

To print everything in Black & White you need to do Print > Properties, then go to the Device tab and select Printout Mode, and select a Grayscale mode. Whether you can do this or not may depend on what modes your printer supports

There is not a problem when printing from this part of the system,it's only when I am in Open Office,which does not give me access to those controls,only a check box (print black)which does not appear to be working properly because it still prints color....if I am understanding all of this correctly.
