I'm already stumped, don't know what an application is.

I opened up the above link and the first question it asked me is to choose an application. I don't what "application" to choose or where to save the file once I download it.

I need a dictionary of technical, computerspeak language to be able to interpret the instructions!

all you need to do is run:

sudo apt-get install glabels

And it will work. An application is a program you can run like nautilus or gedit

openoffice/libre office writer already has functions to make business cards. you don't need to download any applications.

both of the two responses are like "Greek" to me. Again these are technical terms I am not familiar with.

I went to open office help and made a query about business cards and got the message that I need to "install Java runtime environment". Again, beyond my comprehension, no can do.

Oh, how I wish I had not been talked into installing Linux (at a cost of a few hundred dollars) since I am so unable to perform many functions I knew how to perform with the dreaded Microsoft, and the "installer" has left me in the lurch.

the help file has easy to follow steps and is written in plain english.

you can install java by going into applications>ubuntu software center and typing sun java in the search box. look for Sun Java (R) Runtime Environment. choose the architecture independent file and click install. your business card thing will work after that.

Can you help with this problem?
