recipe measurement format

Asked by Les Peach

When I enter 1/2 or 1/4 in writer, it is reformatted into a one position slanted subscript character. Why does the reformatting not work for 1/8 or smaller fractions? How do I get this format to work for the smaller fractions? Thanks!

I can only assume that you have 1/2 and 1/4 (and possibly 3/4) in your AutoCorrect table (Tools > AutoCorrect Options...) mapped to ½, ¼ and (possibly) ¾.

This can be done because the symbols ½, ¼ and ¾ are in the Unicode character table. See Applications > Accessories > Character Map and choose the script called Common. However, I don't think there are single character representations of all other fractions in Unicode.
